In 2023, the Pittsburgh Black Media Federation developed the Chris Moore Media Internship. It is named for Chris Moore, a pioneering broadcast journalist in the Pittsburgh area, a founder of the Pittsburgh Black Media Federation and the co-creator of the Federations’ Frank Bolden Urban Multimedia Workshop for high school students.
The internship allows promising college students and/or recent graduates an opportunity to gain marketing/ communications/publication experience with the award-winning Pittsburgh Black Media Federation.
Chris Moore interns develop the tools and skills and networking to shape their own futures. The internship aims to provide students with first-hand experience writing, reporting, and publishing. Core responsibilities to PBMF include social media management, writing news releases, and other marketing and communications duties.
Paid writing opportunities are available with local media, including BlackPittsburgh.com; digital news site NextPittsburgh's Press Forward Fellow, Soul Pitt Media, Propel Schools, University of Pittsburgh, and The Northside Chronicle.
Our interns will work closely with PBMF administration to help develop content, create social media messages, manage some administrative tasks, other duties as assigned. We are looking for the following from our internship applicants.
Three positions are available beginning in January 2025.
