‘Still Feel Like Going On’ photography project

**THE 2014 APPLICATION PERIOD HAS ENDED.  THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST.**

Boys 15 to 17 years old are invited to apply to participate in the 2014 “Still Feel Like Going On” photo project.  The innovative, 10-week program allows a dozen teen boys to explore photography, storytelling, media images of black men, and how to use photography as a medium for storytelling.  The program is FREE.

Program scholars participate in classroom sessions on topics such as the power of photography, black male imaging in the media, basic photo techniques, use of light, digital image enhancement, and photo editing.

The scholars are mentored by professional photographers with a diverse range of personal and professional experiences.  Under the guidance of these instructor-coaches, each program scholar produces a “Day in the Life of” photo essay of a black male role model for inclusion in a public exhibit in August.

“Still Feel Like Going On” sessions run consecutive Saturdays from June 7 to Aug. 9 at Point Park University.  The sessions will meet from 9 to 11 a.m. the first two Saturdays and 9 a.m. to noon every Saturday afterward.

The project is part of the multi-year African American Men and Boys Initiative funded by The Heinz Endowments, which supports efforts to make southwestern Pennsylvania a premier place to live and work, a center for learning and educational excellence, and a region that embraces diversity and inclusion.

The deadline to apply has been extended to May 30.
