PBMF’s Statement on Death of Regis Bobonis Sr.

PBMF mourns the loss of Regis Bobonis Sr., a trailblazing journalist.  A former editor at the Pittsburgh Courier, he also was the first black news reporter at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the first black news reporter for WIIC, now WPXI.
Bobonis was the founder of the Tuskegee Airmen Memorial of the Greater Pittsburgh Region.
PBMF’s statement on Bobonis:
“Our friend and brother was a trailblazer who embodied all that is good about journalism. His intelligence, integrity, and love of people distinguished him as both a truth-teller in the news industry and as a historian of international renown. His valuable contributions to a better society will not be forgotten.”
