The Pittsburgh Black Media Federation and Point Park University’s Center for Media Innovation are pleased to present “Press Forward: A Discussion of Race, Diversity and Inclusion in the Pittsburgh News Industry.”

Join us for a discussion with Washington Post reporters Keith Alexander and Wesley Lowery, who were part of a 2016 Pulitzer Prize-winning team for a series on police shootings. 

They will then join a panel discussion that will include the following:

  • Jeffrey Benzing, reporter at PublicSource
  • Kristen Doerschner, assistant managing editor at the Beaver County Times
  • Rod Doss, editor and publisher of the New Pittsburgh Courier
  • Scott Trabandt, managing editor at WPXI

Retired KDKA-TV reporter Harold Hayes will moderate the panel.

During the summit, journalists will discuss media coverage of minority communities, best practices, challenges, missteps, etc.  PBMF also will release preliminary results of its media diversity study.

This media summit is the first event in PBMF’s Media Diversity Series.
